Just had to get up early on Sunday morning to see what Tiger would do. Tied for the lead in the very big HSBC event at Abu Dhabi, Tiger was right where he wanted to be. It’s been several years now since he has performed well on the “big stage,” and this event had many of the top players in the world playing.
Well, Tiger hit just two fairways – that’s 2 out of 14! When he hit those two, he missed the green with his approach shot. Tiger hit just six greens in regulation today! Somehow, he shot even par, which I would say was outstanding. Think about it – to hit just 6 greens in regulation, and shoot even par, means he had approx. 24 putts! Needless to say, his putting and short game are very sharp. After watching most of the round on Saturday, this was a completely different guy today.
Three out of four rounds were very good. This is similar to the Australian Open. But in Australia, it was the third round where he played poorly. Today, we were hoping to see the “old Tiger.” Looks like we will have to wait…
